New Year

New Years. The time of the year when everyone decides to be better. For the first two weeks, maybe month if you're good, you work out, eat healthy, study, read, spend less time on the internet, whatever. In short, you make a resolution to be something. Maybe that resolution is to be skinnier, healthier, smarter, kinder, better. No matter what, you are determined that this New Years will be different. You will succeed. You won't quit. But deep down inside, you know you will quit. Your fire will die. Your ambition with be eaten away by laziness and desire. You know it will happen. There isn't anything you can do about it.
I'm not going to write a blog post encouraging you to keep going, to never give up. I'm not going to give you tips on how to stay focused, or how to get rich and popular in a week. I won't tell you that you can do it if you believe in yourself. Because you know what? You are human. You will fail. Whether you like it or not. But I will tell you one thing.
Make one decision. Not a resolution. A decision. And not just any decision. Joshua 24:15- "And if it is evil in your eyes to serve the Lord, choose this day whom you will serve, whether the gods your fathers served in the region beyond the River, or the gods of the Amorites in whose land you dwell. But as for me and my house, we will serve the Lord.” Who will you serve? Decide to begin or better a relationship with your God. He wants you. Can you decide to want Him this year? Will 2013 be a year of faith and love for you? Or will it be another year of failure and bitterness?
If you decide to make this year one of faith, I can't promise miracles. I can't promise "easy." I can't promise money and health. I can't promise prosperity. I can't even promise life. But I can promise you that God will stay with the enter way. He will never leave you. "He will not leave you or forsake you.” What have you got to lose?
Choose this day whom you will serve... But as for me and my house, we will serve the Lord.
